The Spaniards at Glendinning were forever disappearing off to unspecified parts of "The Highlands" for indeterminate amounts of time. Today I did too. A good proportion of the tourists we came across were speaking Spanish or German..
(Oh, and say goodbye to your bandwidth, there are lots of photos..)

Loch Lubnaig

I've stayed in one of those, years ago.

All this needs is a nice big speedboat.. >:)

This is an ex-railway viaduct.

Ahh, now we're getting somewhere..

Random atmospheric lump of rock in Glen Coe

See how jaunty the bridge is! Actually that's just me sticking the camera out of the car window...

"Welcome to Fort William.."

"The land that spelling forgot"

Service stations in the Highlands are somewhat basic.

The Caledonian Canal slightly obscured by trees, and the River Lochy :)

CILL!

Behind the hill you can see, the Ben Nevis you can't see..

I've seen quite a few pipelines-down-the-side-of-a-hill in Scotland. This one is attached to an aluminium works. They always remind me of The Heroes of Telemark.

Neptune's Staircase, a ladder of 8 locks.
I've never seen powered locks before - all the lockkeeper has to do is twiddle levers inside the cabinets on the left, no brute force involved :)

Arty moment.

Our guest house for the night.
